Tips To Maximize Your Earnings From Taking Surveys

  1. Sign up with several survey sites.
  2. Most sites send you an email to confirm your email address.  Make sure you hit the confirmation button in their email. This makes sure they have the right email to send you opportunities to make money.
  3. Fill out your profile with each site, this will enable them to send you the best fitting opportunities.
  4. Respond quickly to survey opportunities. Many surveys have expiration dates or a maximum number of survey takers.
  5. Prioritize the surveys you take based on the points or dollar amount offered per survey.  Aim to take the surveys that give the highest earnings for the expected amount of time.
  6. Keep your profile updated.  If you move, have kids, etc. this may open up new survey opportunities for you.
  7. Stick with the highest paying survey sites and don’t waste your time with the others.  We’ve narrowed the list down to our favorites.
  8. Refer your friends! Most survey sites will reward you at least $5 or $10 for each referral.

Pros and Cons of Paid Survey Sites

Pros

  • Don’t require a lot of time (Surveys for 1 minute, 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes, etc. are available)
  • No set hours. You can work on taking surveys anytime during the day.
  • Ability to Multitask. Take surveys on your lunch break, while watching Netflix or TV, or in the bathroom (90% of people use their phone in the bathroom according to a Verizon survey on cell phone use).
  • Taking surveys is a way to make money online without an investment of your own money.

Cons

  • You may not qualify for all surveys that are offered.  Our experience was that we didn’t qualify for some. However, we did qualify for enough that we always had surveys available to take.
  • You won’t get rich taking surveys, even with the sites that have the highest paying online surveys. However, you can make a decent amount of extra cash on the side.
  • If you hate email, you will notice an increase in emails. This is both good and bad.  Good, because most of the emails are offers to take surveys or other ways to make money. Bad because it can be a lot of extra emails (you can set up an extra email account just for survey sites to keep your main email clean).

Frequently Asked Questions About Online Paid Surveys

Why do paid survey companies pay you?

Paid surveys are a win-win opportunity.  Companies are looking for market research on potential customers.  You are looking to make extra money at home.

They provide you an incentive (Cash, free gift cards, pay via PayPal, etc.). With that incentive, you share your opinion on things that companies are looking for market intelligence on.  So you win by receiving an incentive award, and they win by receiving your opinion (market intelligence).

How do I get paid for taking online surveys?

Payment methods vary by website.  Some pay cash direct to your bank account, some offer rewards via gift cards (Amazon, Target, etc.), other pay you cash through PayPal.

Some sites you will be earning points for surveys or watching videos.  These will usually have specific thresholds to redeem these points for cash or gift cards.

Do I need any special qualifications?

No special qualifications needed. Just bring your opinions and honestly answer questions that the survey companies ask.

Are Online Surveys Safe?

You should make sure you work with a legitimate company, like the ones listed above.  You’ll notice that none of the survey sites above ask you to pay a fee to take their surveys.

A legitimate site will be free to join and never ask you to pay to complete a survey.

How much money can I make from taking paid surveys?

People always wonder, can I really make money taking surveys online? We’ve done the research and have received cash in our bank account for surveys we took.

The amount you’ll earn will demand on a number of factors, including how much time you spend on these sites, how many surveys you qualify for, etc.. With that being said, we’ve seen some nice extra cash from some of our favorites.

What personal information do I have to provide?

When you register with survey websites you’ll need to provide some basic information. Most standard survey companies want to know your name, age, whether you have kids, etc..

This information makes sense for what the survey company is using the data for, which is consumer research. For example, if the company that is doing research sells products geared towards kids, they’ll want to know if you have kids.
